Frequently Asked Quesions
Who is Pictures Plus?
Pictures Plus is an art & framing company with 30 years of business experience in Hawaii. We offer full-service framing with free design consultations at our seven Pictures Plus / Plus Interiors and Pictures Plus Prints stores statewide. Our online framing store offers our best-selling frames and mats at heavily discounted prices. Online customers enjoy a super simple and convenient shopping experience, and can order a frame in any custom size to fit their artwork at home. Customers can pick up their finished frame from any of our seven stores statewide, or have it shipped to their door.
What can I frame?
Our online frames are great for any work on paper, including photos, prints, posters, drawings and paintings. Specialty frames, such as shadowboxes or multi-opening frames, can be ordered at any of our store locations, with the assistance of our Design Consultants.
Made in Hawaii
All of our frames are assembled from start to finish at our manufacturing facility in Kapolei, Hawaii. On average, each frame is handled by 6 different people: processing, frame construction, mounting, glazing, fitting and return delivery.
We offer 20 frame options, in any custom size up to 40” x 60”. All of our frames are wood-based, no plastics, metal or MDFs. Frame styles include modern, distressed and our best-selling Hawaiian Koa wood veneer. As the largest manufacturer of Koa veneer frames in the world, we take great pride in creating one-of- a-kind frames with this unique wood species, which is indigenous to Hawaii.
We offer regular and acid-free mats to fit frames up to 40" x 60". Choose a single or double mat. Don’t see what you want? Visit any of our store locations throughout Hawaii to choose from our entire selection of mats and frames.
We offer a variety of glass options suitable for any budget and application, including regular, museum and acrylic glass with or without UV protection. Acrylic glass costs slightly more than regular glass. It is lighter, scratch-resistant and shatter-resistant. Museum glass is the most expensive glazing option. It provides unmatched clarity and protection, blocking up to 99% of UV rays.
We offer industry standard regular foamcore backing, as well as an acid-free backing option.
Measuring Your Art
Flatten out your print and measure from edge to opposite edge, rounding up to the nearest 1/8”. Supply the width and height in Step 1 – Image Size. We attach hanging wire to each frame so it will hang on the wall exactly as it appears in our frame builder. Therefore, please be sure to input width first, then height. For example, if your image is 12” wide x 16” high, make sure to build a 12” x 16” frame, not a 16” x 12” frame, so that your image can hang as intended in the portrait orientation.
Note: If you have selected a mat, it will overlap the print by 1/8” on each side to prevent the print from falling through the opening. If you have selected no mat, the frame will overlap the print by approximately 1/4” on each side.
Do you print photos, too?
Currently, we only offer custom framing on this site. However, you can visit our sister site, www.picturesplusprints.com to have your image printed on metal, canvas or photo paper. You can also shop our collection of art and gift products at our prints site. All of our printing is done in Kapolei. Watch this video to learn more about our Colorfuse print process.
All custom frame orders are manufactured upon order. Turnaround time is 7 days or less. An additional transit time of 3-7 days applies for all neighbor island orders.
Upon receipt, please inspect your frame for any damage. Simply email us at email@example.com within 5 days of receipt of the frame with a description and picture of the damage to start the claims process. We stand behind our products 100% and will gladly address any defects in materials or workmanship.
Each frame is custom built to the customer’s exact specifications. As a result, all orders are final once they are placed and we cannot offer a refund on your order. If you have a question or are unsure, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org before placing your order and we’d be happy to help!

Mounting your art

To begin, lay out all frame pieces.
Mount your artwork into frame
Peel protective cover
Stack frame elements and place in frame
Close tabs and attach wire to secure
Enjoy your framed artwork!
Hanging your art
We supply the hanging hardware needed to hang your artwork. All frames that are 16” x 20” or smaller will include a saw tooth hook. Simply decide on the best location for your framed art, secure the nail and center the saw tooth on the nail. All frames that are larger than 16” x 20” will include a wire and hanger. You will secure your hanger onto the wall with the provided nail, and center the wire on it.
